Nord Stage Revision C

The Nord Stage family will receive a minor cosmetic make-over, due to one new function in the operating system that is activated from an existing button. The new models will be named Revision C.

New Nord Stage Sounds and Librarian

There are several new piano samples in development which will be released during 2008.

» One example is a stunning new grand piano, which has recently been recorded using both custom made and state of the art technology. The new grand's will be available in various versions, to provide Nord Stage users with a wider range of sound possibilities. The recordings are made with an elaborate set of different microphones and some very careful microphone positioning. By recording the samples from several positions at the same time gives us the unique opportunity to offer these individual piano sounds in several perspectives. These were all recorded not only at the same session, but at the same time as well - close up, farther away, wider stereo etc. Clavia will be able to give the users the choice of their preferred sound.

» Another example is a Clavia first - an Italian harpsichord that has been recorded at the Swedish Radio's state of the art studios. More of these wonderful instruments will appear in a Nord Stage near you later this year - there is a Flemish and also a French harpsichord in the development pipeline. A preview of these new sounds will be available here shortly.

» A new Librarian Software will be released as a free download, which supports all three kinds of sound data in a Nord Stage: User Programs, Piano Samples and Synth Patches.

Nord Stage OS v3.00

The OS update to version 3.00 will consist of several improvements, including (but not limited to) the functions listed below. Please note that this new operating system can be installed in the previous A and B revisions of the Nord Stage family, current Stage users will be able to take full advantage of the new features.

» Mono Piano Mode - this will apply to all the acoustic stereo pianos in the Stage. The Mono Mode will be activated from the panel, no substitution of the samples in the Stage will be necessary.
» Improved Sustain Down functionality - some of the more elaborate Nord Stage acoustic pianos have pedal-down samples, which are activated when the sustain pedal is operated. These samples produces the sympathetic resonance of all the strings in the piano when the physical dampers are lifted.
» Extended Synth Program Library - the new Stage OS will increase the synth program library to include a total of 300 programs.
» New Wavetables - the selection of digital waveforms in the Synth Section will be increased to 64.
» Improved Sys Ex support - the Sys Ex capabilities will allow users to be able to dump or load banks and/or individual synth programs via MIDI.
» Voice Allocation - the voice allocation of the Synth Section is improved, minimizing any issues when the available polyphony runs out.
» Velocity Curves - the Extern Section will be updated with an improved velocity curve in order to better cater for the control of external units.
» Swell input as Volume - a system setting will provide users the choice to use an expression pedal connected to the Swell pedal input as a volume pedal for all the sections in the Nord Stage.
» Copy Panels - users will be able to copy settings between the Panels A and B.

No release date has been set yet, but will be announced soon, here at www.nordusa.com or at www.clavia.se.
